Welcome to Independence Nontraditional School Department of Student Services (INS). Students and families are either served in our Center program located on the first floor or in our Middle and High School Program located on the 2nd and 3rd floors.  To get information about either program, please navigate accordingly on the left side of this screen.  We welcome you all to our Student Services Departments and hope this website is a useful tool for our students, their families and our community stakeholders.

Mission Statement For Our Department: 

Independence Nontraditional School (INS) is here to provide alternative education opportunities. Each student possesses unique worth and positive attributes to contribute to our global society. At INS we believe that our students learn in different ways and at different rates and deserve an alternative to the traditional comprehensive school model. INS’s pedagogy allows student in a nontraditional way to acquire and develop knowledge and skills in academic content, responsible behavior, and respect for self and others there by leading to the development of productive adults, responsible citizens, and lifelong learners.

24/7 Emergency Resources

PWCS cares deeply about students’ emotional well-being during their time away from school.  If a student is in need of emotional support during this time, please feel free to send an e-mail to studentsupportservices@pwcs.edu.  A school mental health or health professional will answer and offer virtual support to students to the best of their ability.  This e-mail is not to be used for emergency situations as it will not be monitored 24 hours a day.  If a student is ever in an emergency situation he/she is encouraged to call 911 or utilize one of the resources listed below:
