The Center

The Center is a public separate day program serving special education students from grades K-12. With a history of helping students reach their fullest potential, the program offers curriculum instruction in core academic areas, as well as vocational and social skills training. Our goal is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for students to progress towards their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and assist in their transition to post-secondary employment, training, and/or education. The program serves a diverse student population in terms of culture, ethnicity, socio-economic levels, and special education needs/categories. Placement is determined by an IEP team decision for students requiring a more restrictive environment. We utilize a proactive approach based on a three-tiered model of assessment, prevention, and intervention to create a safe and effective school environment. Our ultimate aim is to prepare students for a successful transition back to their neighborhood schools.
